Battery Placement and Setup - Almost there

The E4D RWD Project

Surface : Tiles

In terms of technical setup of the car. I can only tell what I have done and adjusted. I think tuning is based on personal preference

Battery Placement :

The E4D is difficult to drive with an almost 50/50 weight ratio. I found the car very tail happy at the end of the corners and doing 180 turn after the corner. I created a mount at the rear of the car to help with the grip and stability of the car. It drives much better now. I might change the position of the battery as I don't really like too much weight at the end. I think I would likely end up mounting the battery above the cars motor.

I think I will post a short video on the progress.

Tires:

I am using Drift tires at the back which is 26mm, The front tires are stock from E4D which is 24 mm in the front. There is no brand for the drift tires. I just wanted flat and wider tires. Kinda sucks when you can't find tires at the local hobby shop. I bought a couple of combination of tires online but I don't think the china ones are very good.

I just got a pair of MST FRF HP (purple dot) These tires are too hard for my running surface. I think these would go better on carpet. I have put them aside until I get on a carpet track.

I am using a pair MST CSR Hard (Green dot) These are currently placed in the front for running on smooth tiles. I think I need a little softer tires for both front and back.

The setup up would most likely be MST FRF mediums on the front and CSR mediums on the back. Until I find those tires ... I will update again.

Camber.

Rear Camber set to 0.
Front Camber is at 7 degrees. Its an estimate from the protractor app.

Toe

I think its just slightly toed out in the front. I don't have a tool to measure toe :p

Weights.

Currently I have none. I mess around with the best setup for battery placement. I find the front of the car need a little more weight for grip and balance. But until I get better tires, I think about 100 grams in the front with my current setup is fine.

Front Custom Suspension - Mono Shock for E4D

The E4D RWD Project - Custom Mono Shock

This is my version of custom mono shock. This is a rip off of some other mono shock system that I had seen. System should be similar but may be different.

I didn't have a spare springs that fit at this moment. FYI this current setup is too high for body shell. It is recommended that the spring be attached to the lower holes. The reason for this mod, is that the E4D wheels were hitting the original springs. This helps to reduce that problem. Your trailing wheel will have better angle after this mod.

Items Needed:

2 X E4D MF Steering Set
2 X Adjustable Rods 50mm
4 X Rod Ends (M3 holes)

Instructions:
Install Rod ends with one end of the adjustable rod to bottom lower arm.

Link the other end to the MF Steering Set arm. (Use the shorter arm)

Connect both sides accordingly.

Attach other Steering arms to Spring

There you go.
